An MSc, MCA, MTech or BE/BTech may prove subject knowledge, but it does not automatically settle the teacher-training requirement for a PGT post. The label PGT is not one national eligibility rule. The joint KVS/NVS notice of 13 November 2025 and DSSSB Advertisement 05/2024 each set a subject route and a separately worded teacher-training route, and a candidate has to clear both on their own terms. The governing notification for the exact recruiter, subject and post code is always the final authority.
PGT eligibility: the B.Ed answer in 60 seconds

In both examples, a subject qualification alone was insufficient. “B.Ed is always compulsory for every PGT” and “computer science PGT never needs B.Ed” are unsafe shortcuts. Each recruiter words its own subject list, training clause and paper structure, set out side by side in Teaching CS Exams Compared: DSSSB, KVS, RSSB.
Check three eligibility gates, not one degree name
Treat eligibility as three independent gates:
Subject qualification: the accepted degree, branch, marks and institution.
Teacher-training qualification: B.Ed or an alternative expressly named by the notice.
Recruiter add-ons: any language, recognition, graduation-subject, TET, domicile or document condition stated for that post.
Passing two gates cannot offset failing the third. Ananya has MCA with 64% and B.Ed with 57% from an NCTE-recognised institution. Under the cited KVS/NVS PGT CS clauses, 64% >= 50% clears the subject threshold and 57% >= 50% clears training, so gates one and two are settled on her marks. Gate three is not: the language, recognition, graduation-subject, TET, domicile and document conditions printed for her target post are still unread, and a single unmet condition ends the application whatever the first two gates say. KVS and NVS PGT Computer Science: the 2025 notice
The joint KVS/NVS Recruitment Notification No. 1/2025, published on 13 November 2025, specified MSc CS/IT or MCA at 50% or above, or ME/MTech CS/IT at 50% or above. It separately required one NCTE-recognised route at 50% or above: B.Ed, three-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed, or a four-year integrated degree including the B.Ed component.
The decision is an AND:
(accepted CS/IT postgraduate route at 50% or above) AND (accepted teacher-training route at 50% or above)
Rohan has MSc IT at 61% but no listed training route, so he fails that gate. Mehak has MTech CS at 58% and an NCTE-recognised B.Ed at 52%, so she clears both academic gates, subject to all other conditions. Neither is “selected”.
DSSSB and other state or UT PGT eligibility: the post code controls
DSSSB Advertisement No. 05/2024 specified six alternatives for NDMC Post Code 15/24: specified BE/BTech branches; MCA, MSc CS/IT or Masters in IT; MSc Mathematics with BSc CS or BCA; postgraduate Mathematics, Physics or Statistics with a three-year Computer Engineering/IT diploma; the same postgraduate subjects with a postgraduate diploma in computer applications; or DOEACC B level. It then stated AND Graduate with B.Ed or its equivalent.
Vikram has BE Computer Science with 72% and no B.Ed. His BE fits the first subject route, but he fails the separately stated B.Ed/equivalent gate. The KVS/NVS list cannot be copied here because it used different postgraduate routes. Likewise, a TGT rule cannot be pasted into a PGT application.
What can count as B.Ed equivalent, and what cannot

Match the qualification name, institution, recognition for the relevant session, marks or official conversion, completion date and notice cut-off. Similar titles are not automatically interchangeable.
Sana’s three-year integrated B.Ed-M.Ed is 49.8%, exactly 0.2 percentage points below 50%. Do not round it up unless an official university conversion or the notice permits it.

PGT eligibility: the short version and next step
Remember: exact recruiter + exact subject + exact post code + exact notice. KVS/NVS Notification 1/2025 and DSSSB Advertisement 05/2024 each kept the subject route and the teacher-training route separate, and each binds only the cycle and post code it names. A later cycle can reword either route.
Rohan fails because he lacks a listed training route. Vikram fails because he lacks B.Ed/equivalent. Mehak clears the subject and training gates only, because her remaining notice conditions are unverified.
