Your certificate may say Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning or Computer Science and Business Systems, while the BTSC notice uses closed wording. A similar-looking title does not establish eligibility. Advertisement 09/2026 is the wording that decides your case, and it sorts every file into one of three outcomes: a clear match, a clear mismatch, or a claim that needs written BTSC clarification. It binds this recruitment only, so check the next one against its own notice.

BTSC Lab Assistant eligibility starts with the exact advertisement

BTSC Advertisement 09/2026 concerns Laboratory Assistant in Computer Science and Engineering or Information Technology. Do not mix it with BTSC advertisements for science, civil, electrical or other disciplines. The official Advertisement 09/2026 record identifies the post and links the detailed notice. It is the authority for every condition and later corrigendum.

Read its mandatory-qualification table through four independent gates: credential and duration, discipline title, issuing-institution recognition route, and study mode. Passing one gate cannot repair failure at another. The BTSC Lab Assistant (CS) Exam Preparation page helps you prepare for the paper. Neither its listing there nor enrolment in any course is evidence that you meet the qualification bar.

Both institution routes retain the same mandatory credential, duration, discipline and mode. Minimum eligibility is separate from selection weightage or a higher qualification mentioned elsewhere. A B.E. or B.Tech being academically higher does not automatically substitute for the stated three-year diploma.

BTSC Lab Assistant worked checks: exact match and mode mismatch

Anjali has a 3-year Diploma in Information Technology, regular mode, AICTE recognition evidence for the programme and study period, the final diploma and 6 of 6 semester mark sheets.

  1. Duration matches three years.

  2. Information Technology is expressly named.

  3. Recognition evidence is present.

  4. Regular mode matches.

Her file provisionally matches the qualification wording, subject to other BTSC conditions and document verification. It does not mean BTSC has approved her.

Kunal has a 3-year Diploma in Computer Science and Engineering in distance mode. His duration and discipline align, but the non-distance gate fails. Under Advertisement 09/2026 he does not match the stated mode. The familiar branch name cannot repair that failure.

BTSC degree equivalence is not an automatic yes

Rohit has a regular 4-year B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering from a UGC-recognised university, with 8 of 8 semester mark sheets. His branch looks exact, but his credential and duration do not mirror the three-year diploma line. It is not safe to self-certify without written BTSC clarification or a relevant corrigendum.

Meera has a regular 4-year B.Tech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Her transcript lists six subjects: Data Structures, Operating Systems, DBMS, Computer Networks, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. They settle neither credential substitution nor branch equivalence. Her classification is needs written BTSC clarification.

Neither "higher than a diploma" nor "mostly the same syllabus" is an equivalence certificate. A university letter, approval page or transcript can support a request, but it does not bind BTSC.

Flowchart of the four BTSC Advertisement 09/2026 eligibility gates in order: credential (3-year diploma?), discipline (CSE, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology, IT or an officially accepted equivalent?), recognition route documented?, and mode (regular, non-distance?). Four candidate files are traced beneath the gates. Anjali, with a 3-year IT diploma, AICTE evidence, regular mode and 6 of 6 mark sheets, clears all four gates and ends at provisionally matches wording. Kunal, with a 3-year CSE diploma taken in distance mode, is stopped at the fourth gate and ends at mode mismatch. Rohit, with a regular 4-year B.Tech in CSE and 8 of 8 mark sheets, ends at ask BTSC about credential substitution. Meera, with a 4-year B.Tech in AI and ML and six related CS subjects, ends at ask BTSC about credential plus branch equivalence.

BTSC equivalent-discipline claims need an evidence pack

Keep the following together: final diploma, degree or provisional certificate; every semester mark sheet; an official document showing regular or distance mode; institution and programme recognition evidence for the study period; the official curriculum; and any formal branch-nomenclature or equivalence letter from the competent academic authority. These are helpful evidence, not proof that BTSC must accept the claim.

Sana's certificate says Computer Science and Business Systems, 4 years, regular mode. Her university letter records 72 credits of computing papers. That is evidence, not a BTSC ruling. Her case is unresolved. Ask: "Does Advertisement 09/2026 accept this credential and branch as equivalent?"

Never substitute a department name for the printed degree title, a coaching summary for the advertisement, or application acceptance for final eligibility. Save the official notice page and any written BTSC response with your records.

If the form says EBC but the certificate says BC, do not guess which category BTSC will assign. Correct the claim through the permitted process or seek guidance. Age limits, reservation percentages, certificate date rules, fees, vacancies and correction windows sit in the same notice, so read them there rather than carrying an assumption into your form.
