Being a graduate is not the complete answer to IBPS PO eligibility. Clearing one test is not the same as being selected. Eligibility depends on nationality, age, degree timing, and proof; the selection process determines which stages qualify you and which enter the final composite. Rules change by cycle, so the already issued CRP PO/MT-XVI notification is a dated example, not a rule to carry forward.

IBPS PO eligibility: pass four gates before you apply

Three passes cannot offset one failed eligibility gate.

Gate

Question to ask

Evidence

Nationality or citizenship route

Does a permitted route cover me?

Citizenship proof or required Government of India certificate

Age on the notification's reference date

Am I inside my applicable window?

Birth record and category certificate, if claimed

Graduation result declared by the educational cut-off date

Was my final result declared in time?

Valid mark sheet or degree certificate

Valid certificates or identity records

Can I prove every form claim?

Prescribed certificates and identity records

CRP PO/MT-XVI allowed: citizen of India; subject of Nepal or Bhutan; qualifying Tibetan refugee; or qualifying person of Indian origin from its named countries. The latter routes need a Government of India eligibility certificate where specified. Use IBPS PO Eligibility: Graduation, Age Limit and Document Checklist for the detailed degree-timing, DOB-window, category-certificate, and document audit. After all four gates pass, the candidate can enter the five-stage selection chain.

IBPS PO age eligibility: calculate it on the stated reference date

The CRP PO/MT-XVI detailed notification specified 20 to 30 years as on 1 July 2026, with an inclusive window of 2 July 1996 to 1 July 2006. Its upper-age relaxations were 5 years for SC/ST, 3 for OBC Non-Creamy Layer, 10 for PwBD, and 5 for the stated ex-servicemen category. Relaxations require notified conditions and certificates; General/EWS use the unrelaxed maximum.

The notification controls cumulative relaxations, and every claim needs its prescribed valid certificate.

IBPS PO education eligibility: the result date matters more than the ceremony

CRP PO/MT-XVI required a recognised degree in any discipline or Central Government-recognised equivalent, with final result declared by 21 July 2026. Registration required a valid mark sheet or degree certificate and graduation percentage.

Compare the official declaration date, not examination completion or convocation. A result declared on 20 July 2026 passes the timing gate; one declared on 22 July fails it. A 7.8 CGPA becomes 78% only when the university's issued conversion rule says 7.8 x 10 = 78%; otherwise, obtain a conversion certificate.

That eligibility clause sets no separate minimum graduation percentage.

IBPS PO selection process: follow the five-stage chain

CRP PO/MT-XVI set out Online Preliminary Examination, Online Main Examination, mandatory Personality Test, Common Interview, and provisional allotment. Prelims shortlists for Mains; Mains shortlists for the Personality Test and interview. The Personality Test is non-qualifying, with its profile sent to the interview panel. Allotment remains subject to merit, preference, reported vacancies, eligibility proof, and bank verification.

Clearing a stage is not selection. Prelims only permits Mains; Personality Test adds no score. After interview, allotment follows notified merit-cum-preference and reported vacancies. Bank PO Prelims vs Mains: Split Your Prep explains the different emphasis.

Five-stage IBPS PO CRP PO/MT-XVI selection flow: Prelims, Mains, Personality Test, Interview, then provisional allotment.

IBPS PO final composite: a worked 80:20 example

CRP PO/MT-XVI specified 80:20 relative weight for Online Main and interview scores. Prelims and the Personality Test do not enter the composite.

For already normalised 100-point Mains 76 and interview 68:

  • Mains contribution: 76 x 0.80 = 60.8

  • Interview contribution: 68 x 0.20 = 13.6

  • Composite: 60.8 + 13.6 = 74.4 out of 100

The 74.4 is hypothetical, not an IBPS score, cutoff, or guarantee. Adding 5 interview points changes the composite by 5 x 0.20 = 1.0; adding 5 Mains points changes it by 5 x 0.80 = 4.0. This explains weight, not safety.

If you miss a day, move only its highest-priority 60-minute block and drop the lowest-priority drill. Do not turn three missed hours into a six-hour weekday.

IBPS PO eligibility and selection: the short version

Audit four things: find your cycle's reference dates, calculate age there, confirm the degree result date and recognition, then collect every certificate for your claimed category. For CRP PO/MT-XVI, remember Prelims -> Mains -> mandatory non-qualifying Personality Test -> Interview -> provisional allotment.

Check one DOB inside the stated window, one result date after the cut-off, and recompute 76/68 to 74.4. If any of those three stalls you, reread that section before you apply. Then compare the stage-specific courses under IBPS PO & SO IT Exam Preparation. IBPS remains the authority for your cycle's notification.
