“I have a degree and I am around 30” is not a complete IBPS PO eligibility check. IBPS applies rules on stipulated dates, then asks for evidence supporting every form entry. IBPS set those dates in the CRP PO/MT-XVI Detailed Notification of 30 June 2026, and for your own cycle the latest notice is final.
IBPS PO eligibility is a sequence of checks
Treat eligibility as four gates:
Recognised graduation.
Result declared by the educational cut-off.
Age within the reference-date window, including only a documented relaxation.
Evidence matching the application.
Nationality is a separate clause. A citizen of India qualifies directly. A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, a Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962, and a person of Indian origin who migrated from one of the countries the notification lists each need a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.
The XVI notification accepted graduation in any discipline from a university recognised by the Government of India, or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government. It tested educational eligibility on 21 July 2026 and age on 1 July 2026. Do not carry these dates into another cycle.
Degree status depends on the declared result date
Writing the final examination, receiving a provisional certificate and attending convocation are separate events. The XVI notification required the final result to be declared on or before 21 July 2026, with proper university or board proof at interview.
Candidate A wrote the final examination on 10 June. The university declared the result on 20 July, the candidate registered on 21 July, and signed university proof records 20 July. The degree-timing gate passes, subject to all other rules.
Candidate C wrote the same examination on 10 June, but the result was declared on 22 July. The degree-timing gate fails even if the form was submitted earlier.
For a web-posted result, preserve an original or signed university document identifying the declaration date. A screenshot or self-calculated completion date is not a substitute.
Graduation marks need the notification formula
CRP PO/MT-XVI required a degree and entry of the graduation percentage, but its educational clause did not set a 60% or 55% minimum. Calculate across every semester or year and all subjects, including optional or additional subjects.
For 3,742 marks obtained out of an aggregate maximum of 5,000:
3,742 / 5,000 = 0.7484.0.7484 x 100 = 74.84%.Enter
74.84%to two decimal places.
Do not round upwards: 59.99% remains below 60%, and 54.99% remains below 55%.
For CGPA, an issued university rule of CGPA x 10 makes 8.10 x 10 = 81.00%. Without an official rule, obtain a conversion certificate instead of assuming a multiplier.
Age depends on the exact reference date and DOB window
The XVI notification specified 20 to 30 years as on 1 July 2026, expressed as a DOB window from 2 July 1996 to 1 July 2006, both inclusive.
DOB 2 July 1996 passes the oldest general or EWS boundary (Candidate A).
DOB 1 July 1996 falls outside that window (Candidate B, general category).
DOB 1 July 2006 passes the youngest boundary.
DOB 2 July 2006 is too young on the reference date.
Relaxation needs evidence. The notification listed five years for SC/ST, three for OBC Non-Creamy Layer, ten for PwBD and five for the stated ex-servicemen group, subject to its cumulative-relaxation note.
An OBC NCL candidate born on 1 March 1994 is 32 years and 4 months old on 1 July 2026. This fits a three-year relaxation in principle, but only with a valid OBC NCL claim and certificate.

Category benefit needs a matching certificate
Use the CRP PO/MT-XVI Detailed Notification for every certificate format, date and condition.
Claim | XVI document check | Common mismatch |
|---|---|---|
SC/ST | Certificate in the prescribed Government of India format | Wrong format or issuing authority |
OBC NCL | Central List status, prescribed format and Non-Creamy Layer clause | State-only certificate or missing NCL clause |
EWS | Prescribed Income and Asset Certificate | Wrong validity period or financial year |
PwBD | Prescribed disability certificate | Unsupported disability claim or wrong certificate |
The OBC NCL certificate had to be issued from 1 April 2026 up to the interview date and include the NCL clause. One issued on 15 April clears the date check but still needs the correct authority, format and Central List status. A state-only certificate without the NCL clause fails.
The EWS certificate had to be valid for 2026-27 using financial year 2025-26. Guidelines can change, so do not select a benefit and plan to fix its paperwork later.
Build one document pack before applying
Group the pack by purpose:
Interview call letter and system-generated application printout.
Birth certificate or Class X/SSLC certificate for DOB.
Valid photo identity proof.
Graduation mark-sheets or certificates and proof that the result was declared by 21 July 2026.
Applicable SC/ST, OBC, EWS, PwBD, scribe, ex-servicemen or other eligibility documents.
The notification required originals and self-attested photocopies at interview, plus online upload through its provided link. Audit mismatches early:
Form field | Evidence value | Match? |
|---|---|---|
Name: Ananya Rao | Ananya Rao | Yes |
DOB: 14.09.2001 | 14.09.2001 on Class X certificate | Yes |
Result date: 20.07.2026 | University certificate says 20.07.2026 | Yes |
Category: OBC NCL | Certificate lacks NCL clause | No |
That single “No” blocks the category claim. Missing documents can prevent interview participation or invalidate candidature, and issuing authorities may verify them. Do not send papers directly to IBPS before or after interview; follow the notified process.
Run a ten-minute audit, then choose your preparation stage
Six steps, in this order: open the latest notice, mark its cut-off dates, calculate the DOB window, confirm the result date, validate any relaxation certificate, and match the form against your evidence. Then use the IBPS course family to choose preparation support.
The Bank PO Prelims vs Mains preparation guide explains the stage split. The calendar-agnostic banking preparation plan helps when dates change.
Once eligible, use the IBPS PO Prelims preparation course for first-stage foundations and the IBPS PO Mains preparation course for the distinct second stage. Neither is an eligibility authority; the latest official notification remains final.
