Many SBI PO aspirants have a syllabus list and mocks, yet follow the same routine. Weak concepts, slow question selection and mock review then compete for the same hours. This plan gives you a concrete 16-week route: a 16-hour weekly model, a 45-question baseline, phased mock cadence, a worked repair queue and an honest 21-week option for a working candidate. Its diagnostic, set sizes, timers, hour splits, readiness thresholds and score calculations are study controls; they do not define an official SBI paper, exam gate, duration or marking scheme. SBI's current Careers notice remains the authority for applicable stages, sections, timings, marking rules and instructions.

1. Confirm the live SBI PO rules, then take a 45-question baseline

Begin at SBI Careers. Confirm the active advertisement, eligibility, stages, section structure, prescribed durations and marking rules there. Do not freeze an old pattern into your plan. The SBI PO Prelims, Mains and Final Stage: A 12-Hour Week Plan gives the wider stage map. This article builds the weeks before the first exam gate.

Take a custom 45-question, 60-minute diagnostic: 15 Quant, 15 Reasoning and 15 English. Record attempted, correct, wrong, unattempted and actual time for each area. The worked baseline is Quant 12, 8, 4, 3; Reasoning 13, 11, 2, 2; English 14, 12, 2, 1. Totals are 39 attempted, 31 correct, 8 wrong and 6 unattempted from 45. Use these counts as the baseline for later comparison.

2. Choose an honest weekly budget before choosing resources

Budget in hours: Quant 3.5, Reasoning 3.5, English 2.5, Mains support 2, timed work 2, review 2.5. Thus, 3.5 + 3.5 + 2.5 + 2 + 2 + 2.5 = 16 h. Base Mains support on current SBI material and course coverage. Count only outputs: solutions, recall notes, timed results or error-log changes. Passive viewing is not practice.

Standard total: 15 x 16 = 240 h; a 12-hour taper makes 240 + 12 = 252 h. A worker's 12 h split is Quant 3, Reasoning 3, English 2, Mains support 1, timed work 1, review 2. Stretch phases to 6 + 5 + 5 + 4 + 1 = 21 weeks. Weeks 1 to 20 give 20 x 12 = 240 h; the 8-hour taper makes 248 h. Finish later; retain sleep and review.

3. Weeks 1-4: repair the weakest foundation before increasing mock volume

Quant: 8 / 12 = 66.7% attempted accuracy, lowest. Phase 1 uses Quant 5 h, Reasoning 3 h, English 2 h, Mains support 2 h, timed practice 1 h and review 3 h, for 16 h.

Weeks 1 and 2: four custom 15-question concept sets, two short section drills and zero full mocks weekly. Weeks 3 and 4: three custom 20-question drills and one full mock weekly. Review for at least the attempt time. End Week 4 with a fresh 15 + 15 + 15 diagnostic; compare area accuracy, blanks and repeated error families with the baseline.

Use SBI PO Previous Year Analysis: Read Papers for Section Difficulty as evidence, not prediction. SBI PO Prelims structures foundations. Filter the 59,000+ published questions across KnowledgeGate's platform to covered lessons; this pool is platform-wide, not SBI PO-only.

4. Weeks 5-8: turn coverage into timed selection and repeatable accuracy

Restore the 16-hour split. Do three custom 20-question, 25-minute section drills weekly. Take one full mock in Weeks 5 and 6, then two in Weeks 7 and 8. Full mocks use current SBI-aligned rules; review before another.

For 20 questions with 17 attempted, 14 correct, 3 wrong and 3 unattempted, accuracy is 14 / 17 x 100 = 82.4%; attempt rate is 17 / 20 x 100 = 85%. Tag wrong answers: one concept, one calculation or reading, one poor selection. Tag blanks: two deliberate skips, one unknown method.

Advance when every error has an action, each area's latest three drills are reviewed, and no unresolved concept error appears over twice in the last two sets.

5. Weeks 9-12: integrate full mocks while keeping a small Mains bridge

Schedule two full mocks, two targeted section-repair drills and two 60-minute Mains-support blocks weekly. Give every mock a separate review block at least as long as the attempt. Bank PO Prelims vs Mains: Split Your Prep explains why current-stage speed and later-stage depth are different jobs.

For attempted accuracies 78%, 84%, 81%, sort 78, 81, 84; the median is 81%. It represents typical recent execution better than the 84% high. Do not compare practice values with an invented cutoff.

If one error family appears at least five times across two mocks, move one 60-minute new-practice block to that repair next week. Preserve one 60-minute Mains-support block. SBI PO Mains currently covers reasoning and computer aptitude, data analysis and interpretation, awareness, English and descriptive writing. Confirm applicable sections in SBI's current material.

6. Weeks 13-16: simulate consistently, then taper without cramming

In Weeks 13 to 15, take full mocks Monday, Wednesday and Saturday; analyse them Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Keep one 60-minute Mains-support block and stop adding low-priority sources. Judge readiness from the latest five reviewed mocks, repeat errors and selection decisions, not one high result.

Week 16 is a 12-hour taper. In its first four study days, book two 180-minute mock-and-review blocks: 2 x 180 min = 360 min = 6 h. Four 45-minute error-log redos give 4 x 45 min = 180 min = 3 h. Add 2 hours of recall and formula or rule review, plus 1 hour for the current SBI notice, admit card and instructions. Thus, 6 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 12 h. Use the remainder of each mock-and-review block for review.

A 16-week SBI PO build-to-mocks timeline with every worked value. Show Phase 1, Weeks 1-4, at 16 h/week: Weeks 1-2 have four 15-question concept sets/week, two short section drills/week and zero full mocks; Weeks 3-4 have three 20-question section drills/week and one full mock/week. Show Phase 2, Weeks 5-8, at 16 h/week: three 20-question, 25-minute section drills/week, one full mock/week in Weeks 5-6 and two full mocks/week in Weeks 7-8. Show Phase 3, Weeks 9-12, at 16 h/week: two full mocks/week, two targeted section-repair drills/week and two 60-minute Mains-support blocks/week. Show Phase 4, Weeks 13-15, at 16 h/week: full mocks Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, analysis Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, and one 60-minute Mains-support block/week. Show Week 16 taper at 12 h total: two 180-minute mock-and-review blocks = 6 h, four 45-minute error-log redo blocks = 3 h, targeted recall = 2 h, current SBI notice and instruction check = 1 h. Footer equation: 15 x 16 h = 240 h; 240 + 12 = 252 h.

7. Turn the baseline into a repair queue and recover missed days honestly

Attempted accuracy: 31 / 39 x 100 = 79.5%. Classify eight wrong: four concept, two calculation or reading, two selection. Repair: concepts 4 x 20 min = 80 min; calculation or reading 2 x 10 min = 20 min; selection 2 x 10 min = 20 min; six unattempted questions 6 x 10 min = 60 min. Total: 80 + 20 + 20 + 60 = 180 min = 3 h.

Lose a planned 2 h weekday block? Recover 60 min on the weekend and replace a low-priority 60 min block next week, never through a four-hour punishment session.

Lose 6 h? Protect the next mock and review, carry forward the best 3 h of repair, and drop 3 h of low-priority volume. Below 12 of 16 h for two consecutive weeks, switch models.

8. SBI PO preparation strategy: run the phase, review the evidence, then advance

Keep the loop simple:

  1. Confirm the live SBI rules.

  2. Log the 45-question baseline.

  3. Choose the 16-hour or 12-hour model.

  4. Change the mock cadence by phase.

  5. Review every mock before taking the next one.
