Prelims preparation trains quick recognition and short drills, but carrying the same routine forward can leave deeper sets, sustained accuracy and awareness revision underprepared. Keep the useful speed habits, but make them a small warm-up rather than the whole plan. This four-week transition gives you a repeatable 14-hour week, a worked diagnostic and a recovery rule for missed days.

SBI Clerk Mains preparation: keep speed, change the centre of gravity

Five 10-minute speed warm-ups use 50 minutes, leaving 840 - 50 = 790 minutes for connected sets, revision, mixed practice and analysis. This keeps fluency without letting short questions consume the week. Bank PO Prelims vs Mains: Split Your Prep shows the same speed-to-depth shift in another banking-exam plan.

Day 1 after prelims: work a 60-question diagnostic

Run a self-designed 70-minute, 60-question drill. Attempt 54: 46 correct, 8 wrong and 6 skipped. Attempted-question accuracy is 46 / 54 x 100 = 85.2%, completion is 54 / 60 x 100 = 90.0%, and correct yield is 46 / 60 x 100 = 76.7%. Accuracy hides skips; completion hides errors.

Split 24 + 18 + 12 + 10 + 6 = 70 minutes across two reasoning sets, a quantitative or DI chain, English, awareness recall and final review, respectively.

The drill sizes, timings, thresholds and linked cross-exam methods in this plan are self-set training tools, not official SBI Clerk requirements.

Classify the 8 wrong answers as 4 knowledge gaps, 2 poor set choices and 2 careless errors. Repair them with 4 x 15 = 60 minutes for concepts, 2 x 20 = 40 minutes for set-selection replay and 2 x 10 = 20 minutes for re-solving. Total: 60 + 40 + 20 = 120 minutes.

The total is 5 x 90 + 180 + 210 = 840 minutes = 14 hours. Carve the first 10 minutes from every Monday-Friday session for speed. Weekly totals are reasoning/computer 180, quantitative/DI 150, awareness 150, English 90, mixed drill and analysis 180, error repair 60 and planning 30. Check: 180 + 150 + 150 + 90 + 180 + 60 + 30 = 840 minutes. The 50 warm-up minutes are included.

Analysis gets as much time as Saturday's drill. For 10 hours, keep 2.5 hours reasoning/computer, 2 quantitative/DI, 1.5 awareness, 1 English, 2 mixed drill/analysis and 1 error repair. Cut new sets before review.

A 14-hour SBI Clerk Mains weekly grid: Monday Reasoning set work 90; Tuesday Quantitative Aptitude and DI 90; Wednesday Awareness 60 + English 30 = 90; Thursday Reasoning and Computer Aptitude 90; Friday Quantitative Aptitude 60 + English 30 = 90; Saturday Mixed drill 90 + analysis 90 = 180; Sunday Awareness revision 90 + error repair 60 + English 30 + next-week planning 30 = 210; 5 x 90 + 180 + 210 = 840 minutes = 14 hours; Monday-Friday speed warm-ups 5 x 10 = 50 included, not added; side totals Reasoning and Computer 180, Quantitative Aptitude and DI 150, Awareness 150, English 90, Mixed drill and analysis 180, Error repair 60, Planning 30, total 840.

A four-week shift from short drills to mains-depth work

Phase

Evidence to complete

Week 1, diagnose and re-balance

Run the 60-question baseline, build the 8-error repair queue and complete all five warm-ups.

Week 2, deepen

Finish two 90-minute reasoning/computer sessions, two quantitative/DI sessions totalling 150 minutes and two awareness reviews totalling 150 minutes.

Week 3, sustain

Do Saturday's 90-minute drill plus 90-minute analysis, then reattempt every unresolved error within 48 hours.

Week 4, consolidate

Re-solve 20 logged items, complete two awareness recall passes and compare another 60-question drill with the baseline.

Set your own promotion rule: repeat the weak week until two consecutive mixed drills reach at least 85% attempted-question accuracy and you finish each review within 24 hours, then enter the mock-and-repair cycle. Keep speed work at 50 minutes; depth grows through connected work and review.

SBI Clerk Mains section work: change the method for each coverage bucket

Coverage bucket

Training method

Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude

Complete sets, record set-selection time, then replay the first wrong branch. Bank PO Reasoning: High-Yield Topics and Puzzle Method adds a step-by-step puzzle workflow.

Quantitative Aptitude

Solve DI and arithmetic chains, write the setup before calculating, and audit units.

General English

Alternate a 30-minute comprehension session with a 30-minute grammar or usage repair session.

General/Financial Awareness

Use one 60-minute midweek recall block and one 90-minute Sunday revision block. Banking Awareness IBPS PO Mains: Static Core + Weekly Plan supplies a structured awareness-revision method.

Mock analysis: measure progress without chasing one score

After repair, suppose the second 60-question drill has 52 attempted, 47 correct, 5 wrong and 8 skipped. Accuracy is 47 / 52 x 100 = 90.4%, completion is 52 / 60 x 100 = 86.7%, and correct yield is 47 / 60 x 100 = 78.3%.

Correct answers rise from 46 to 47 and accuracy from 85.2% to 90.4%, a 5.2-point gain. Completion falls from 90.0% to 86.7%, a 3.3-point drop. The verdict is better control with a remaining selection or timing issue, not a simple win.

Keep five error-log columns: item or set, knowledge/set-choice/careless, first wrong step, repair action, reattempt date. Saturday's review must name repairs for all 5 wrong answers and reasons for all 8 skips.

Missed study days: protect the loop, not the perfect timetable

Miss Thursday's 90-minute session and completion becomes 840 - 90 = 750 minutes = 12.5 hours, or 750 / 840 x 100 = 89.3%. Do not double Friday. Replace 30 minutes of Saturday's drill with the priority reasoning set, retain 90 minutes of analysis, then replace a low-priority Monday set with the remaining 60 minutes.

Preserve analysis and error repair first, then awareness recall, one deep reasoning block and one quantitative/DI block. Cut duplicate speed drills and low-priority sets last. Below 10 hours, repeat the phase. Recover priority, not every minute, and protect sleep.

SBI Clerk Mains strategy after prelims: the short version

Run the diagnostic, classify every wrong answer, copy the 14-hour grid, retain five 10-minute warm-ups and schedule the 120-minute repair before another mock. By week 1's end, hold a baseline, an error queue and fixed sessions, not a promise to study harder.

The verified SBI Clerk Mains course covers these four buckets for learners who want lessons, practice and progress tracking together. To compare wider routes, browse Banking & Insurance Exam Preparation.

Keep the prelims speed habit as a 50-minute weekly warm-up. Make the other 790 minutes prove depth through connected sets, recall, analysis and reattempts.
