You may spend months clearing the online stages and still need to demonstrate practical proficiency in your opted local language before joining. If your Class 10 or 12 mark sheet does not name that language, the Local Language Proficiency Test sits between provisional selection and your joining date. Four weeks of short, scored daily practice in reading, writing, speaking, understanding, and document readiness is enough to walk in steady.
1. First Check Whether the Local Language Test Applies to You
The SBI 2025-26 Junior Associates detailed advertisement, No. CRPD/CR/2025-26/06, requires applicants to read, write, speak, and understand the specified opted local language for their State or UT. Where applicable, the test follows qualification in the online Main examination and comes before joining. Failure means appointment is not offered.
Candidates need not undergo the test if they produce a Class 10 or 12 mark sheet or certificate showing that they studied that language. Keep that mark sheet with your other joining papers rather than assuming the exemption is already recorded against your application, because SBI decides on the documents you actually produce.

The same advertisement names the parts of that test. The Local Language Proficiency Test carries a Non-Verbal Test set on passages, split into an objective section and a subjective section, and a separate Verbal Test. The advertisement prints the passage counts, question counts and marks for each part; it sets no duration, and the qualifying mark in each test is fixed by the Bank, with the usual relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and ex-servicemen candidates. Read those figures off the notification itself through SBI's current openings page and your call letter, since they travel with each year's notice.
2. Run a 25-Minute Baseline Before Making a Timetable
Spend 5 minutes on each block: read a local-language passage aloud, answer five comprehension questions, take a 40-word dictation, write a short response, then speak on the same topic and review errors.
Score reading accuracy, comprehension, dictation and spelling, written expression, and spoken clarity out of 10. The first four sit under the passage-based Non-Verbal work and the fifth under the Verbal Test, so a weak column tells you which part of the real test will hurt. For example, 7 + 8 + 6 + 5 + 7 = 33/50. A four-week self-target of 8/10 per skill gives 5 x 8 = 40/50, with none below 7. It is not an SBI pass mark.
Here, writing at 5/10 is weakest. Move two existing 15-minute weekly blocks to writing while maintaining the other skills.
3. Use a Four-Week, 19-Hour Preparation Model
Complete five 45-minute weekday sessions and a 60-minute Saturday mixed mock. That is 5 x 45 + 60 = 285 minutes, or 4 hours 45 minutes weekly. Across four weeks, 285 x 4 = 1,140 minutes = 19 hours. Sunday is rest or an optional 10-minute error-log glance.
Week 1: Record the baseline and build a 40-word useful-vocabulary list.
Week 2: Correct three passages and complete two 40-word dictations.
Week 3: Record four summaries of 45 seconds each.
Week 4: Run two 25-minute diagnostics, fix five recurring errors, and audit documents.

4. Practise Reading and Understanding With One Exact Passage
Practise on this Hindi passage, written for this drill:
ग्राहक ने सोमवार को 2,450 रुपये जमा किए। खाते में अब 7,850 रुपये हैं। शाखा शाम 4 बजे बंद होगी।
Allow 90 seconds for silent reading and 60 seconds to read aloud. For another notified language, transfer the method rather than merely translating the words.
Ask कितनी राशि जमा की गई? (2,450 रुपये), खाते में अब कितनी राशि है? (7,850 रुपये), and शाखा किस समय बंद होगी? (शाम 4 बजे). Give one point per fact and one per complete spoken sentence: 3 + 3 = 6.
Circle each misread number, vowel sign, or unfamiliar word. Read the faulty sentence three times, then the passage once. Log attempt 1: 4/6 and attempt 2: 6/6.
5. Build Writing Accuracy From Copying to Recall
Use a 12-minute drill: copy all three sentences in 3 minutes, cover them and recall the three facts in 4, then check numbers, spelling, punctuation, and script for 5. The model answer is:

Score 3 for facts, 3 for the numbers 2,450 रुपये, 7,850 रुपये, and 4 बजे, 2 for readable script, and 2 for grammar and spelling. A missing closing time plus one spelling error gives 2 facts + 2 numbers + 2 script + 1 language = 7/10. Fix both next time.
Next, write 50 to 70 words directing someone to a practice branch 2 km away, opening at 10:00 a.m., with the enquiry desk at counter 3.
6. Train Listening and Speaking Together
Have a partner read this practice prompt in Hindi aloud, or record it on your phone:

Hear it twice naturally without seeing the text. Note counter 3, 10:00 a.m., and 2 days, then give a 30 to 45-second summary. Score 3 for facts, 3 for pronunciation, 2 for complete sentences, and 2 for speaking without reading. An example is 3 + 2 + 2 + 1 = 8/10. Next time, fix one pronunciation error and reduce two glances to zero.
For solo practice, record the prompt, wait 10 minutes, play it without looking, answer the facts, then check the script. A memorised introduction cannot replace comprehension.
7. Complete the Document and Final 48-Hour Checklist

Resolve any mismatch against SBI's own instructions well before the call-letter date. In the final 48 hours, run one 25-minute diagnostic, review five frequent errors, charge the recording phone, and ready the documents named in the call letter.
At a final private score of 41/50, with every skill at least 7/10, stop heavy practice. Do two light 15-minute revisions and rest.
