IBPS SO IT Officer Mains Mock Analysis: Turn One Scorecard into a 14-Day Repair Plan
Turn one practice mock into a topic diagnosis, a classified error log and a realistic two-week study schedule with measurable retest gates.

A mock total says whether an attempt went well, not what to study tomorrow. Useful analysis separates coverage, accuracy and the cause of every loss. A simulated 40-question scorecard with +1/-0.25 scoring supplies the baseline; those values are teaching assumptions, not claims about the official IBPS paper. Use IBPS PO & SO IT Exam Preparation for the broader preparation route.

IBPS SO IT Officer Mains mock analysis needs three measures
Define three measures before judging the total:
Attempt rate = attempted / questions in this practice set.
Accuracy = correct / attempted.
Practice score = correct - (0.25 x wrong), only for this worked training mock.
Our 40-question professional-knowledge mock contains DBMS 8, Computer Networks 8, Operating Systems 6, Data Structures and Algorithms 6, Software Engineering 4, Security 4 and Programming 4. The candidate attempted 34, got 25 correct and 9 wrong, and left 6 blank.
Attempt rate is 34/40 x 100 = 85%, accuracy is 25/34 x 100 = 73.53% (reported as 73.5%), and the practice score is 25 - (9 x 0.25) = 22.75. Use the earlier IBPS SO IT Officer Mains Professional Knowledge Mock Strategy to design the blueprint and practise timed attempts. Once the scorecard is complete, use the next 14 days to diagnose and repair its losses. The IBPS SO Professional Knowledge Study Plan builds syllabus knowledge first over eight weeks; the 14-day response reallocates work after one mock.
IBPS SO IT Officer Mains topic-wise scorecard
Each topic row reconciles to the headline result.
Topic | Total | Attempted | Correct | Wrong | Blank | Accuracy | Practice score |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
DBMS | 8 | 7 | 5 | 2 | 1 | 71.4% | 4.50 |
Computer Networks | 8 | 8 | 6 | 2 | 0 | 75.0% | 5.50 |
Operating Systems | 6 | 5 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 60.0% | 2.50 |
Data Structures and Algorithms | 6 | 5 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 80.0% | 3.75 |
Software Engineering | 4 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 1 | 100% | 3.00 |
Security | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 66.7% | 1.75 |
Programming | 4 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 1 | 66.7% | 1.75 |
Total | 40 | 34 | 25 | 9 | 6 | 73.5% | 22.75 |
Software Engineering's 100% covers only three attempts, too little to call the area mastered.
Operating Systems is the first diagnosis candidate because it combines the lowest accuracy with two errors. DBMS and Networks also lost two answers each, so they need question-level review. Software Engineering needs a coverage check, not urgent accuracy repair.

IBPS SO IT Officer Mains wrong-answer audit
Give each wrong answer one ID and one primary cause; double-counting distorts repair time.
Cause | Question IDs | Count | Treatment per error |
|---|---|---|---|
Concept gap | D3, D7, N4, O2 | 4 | 25 minutes relearning plus one checkpoint question |
Recall gap | N8, S4 | 2 | 15 minutes building a compact fact sheet |
Misread | O5, P2 | 2 | 10 minutes re-solving plus a written trigger |
Execution slip | A6 | 1 | 10 minutes re-solving plus a written trigger |
The concept gaps D3 and D7 need the IBPS SO IT Officer DBMS guide before checkpoints; O2 needs the same treatment in Operating Systems. These resources guide repair, not official topic weightage.
The immediate budget is (4 x 25) + (2 x 15) + (3 x 10) = 160 minutes. Concept and recall errors need knowledge work. Misreads and the execution slip need a written trigger, such as “underline NOT” or “trace before choosing”, followed by a clean re-solve.
Turn the mock analysis into a 14-day repair plan
Days | Focus | Daily load | Block total |
|---|---|---|---|
1-4 | DBMS and Operating Systems | 90 minutes | 6 hours |
5-7 | Computer Networks and Security | 80 minutes | 4 hours |
8-10 | Programming and Data Structures and Algorithms | 70 minutes | 3.5 hours |
11-12 | 45-minute mixed set plus 45-minute review | 90 minutes | 3 hours |
13 | 40-minute simulated mock plus 80-minute analysis | 120 minutes | 2 hours |
14 | Closed-book error-log retest | 60 minutes | 1 hour |
The full load is 6 + 4 + 3.5 + 3 + 2 + 1 = 19.5 hours. A 90-minute content day splits into 30 minutes for concept repair, 30 for targeted questions, 20 for checking explanations and 10 for the error log. Shorten the question block on 80-minute and 70-minute days, not the checking step.
If you miss a day, carry forward at most 30 minutes and remove the lowest-priority drill from an already strong area. Do not double the next load.
Retest rules decide what improved
After each repair block, take a 15-question weak-area checkpoint. A DBMS or OS checkpoint clears only with at least 12 correct, no more than 2 wrong, no more than 1 blank and no repeat of the original concept-gap pattern. At the boundary, 12 correct + 2 wrong + 1 blank = 15, while accuracy is 12/14 x 100 = 85.7%. A failed checkpoint triggers a 25-minute concept revisit and a fresh 10-question set the next day.
For Day 13, use the same simulated 40-question format. The comparison target is 30 correct, 6 wrong and 4 blank. Attempts become 30 + 6 = 36, so attempt rate is 36/40 x 100 = 90%. Accuracy is 30/36 x 100 = 83.3%. The practice score becomes 30 - (6 x 0.25) = 28.50.
A higher aggregate is not enough if the same concept errors remain. Keep the repair block open if either DBMS concept error repeats or OS stays below 80% accuracy.
Official IBPS pattern controls the live mock
The IBPS SO IT Mains Preparation Course organises Professional Knowledge lessons, topic practice and analytics; it does not define the official exam pattern.
Current marks, question counts, duration, negative marking, cut-offs and topic weightages come from the current CRP Specialist Officers notification on the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection website. Rebuild the scorecard if that notification differs from these teaching assumptions; the diagnosis still uses proportions and error causes.
IBPS SO IT Officer Mains mock analysis: the short version
One mock should yield a reconciled topic table, a nine-error cause audit and a 19.5-hour plan with explicit retest gates.
Analyse the latest mock before taking another one. Repair the four concept gaps first, then use the Day 13 comparison after the targeted checkpoints. The IBPS SO IT Mains Preparation Course provides sequenced lessons, topic practice and progress analytics.
