Directions: The line graph shows the percentage of people using debit card to pay the bill, percentage of people getting 10% cashback using debit card out of the total people using debit card for payment, percentage of people getting 2% cashback using cash payments out of the total people using cash for payment while paying their bills either through debit card or cash only in four different restaurants (P, Q, R and S) on any day. Read the line graph carefully and answer the following questions.
Note: (i) Cash back is given to customers in the given manner.

Correct answer: B

Concept

In a line-graph DI problem, each line is a percentage measured on its OWN base, not on the grand total. Here the debit-card line is a percentage of all people, but the cashback lines are percentages of a sub-group (debit users or cash users). So you must move base-by-base: first split the total into debit vs cash, then take the cashback percentage only of the relevant sub-group. The count of cash users who did NOT get the 2% offer is (100% - the 2%-cashback share) applied to the cash-user count, and the festival payout is that headcount times the per-person amount.

Application

  1. Read restaurant Q from the graph: debit-card users = 40% of the total, and the share of cash users who got 2% cashback = 60% (grey line).

  2. Total people at Q = 800. Debit users = 40%, so cash users = 100% - 40% = 60% of 800 = 480 people.

  3. Among the 480 cash users, 60% received the 2% cashback, so the people who did NOT get it = 100% - 60% = 40% of 480 = 192 people.

  4. Under the festival scheme these 192 people get an average of Rs. 200 each, so total cashback = 192 x 200 = Rs. 38,400.

Cross-check

Verify the base each percentage sits on: 480 + (debit users 320) = 800, which matches the total, so the 60% cash split is consistent. The 192 figure is 40% of the cash group only (not 40% of 800, which would wrongly give 320), confirming Rs. 38,400.
