You may have studied computers, earned a certificate, typed for years or worked in data entry, but each fact answers a different eligibility question. Check three gates separately: subjects on your school marksheet, the accepted computer credential route, and performance in the later typing test. Other notified conditions form a fourth check. Only the active Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board advertisement can decide an application. The Board's 29 December 2023 Computer Operator Grade-A notice belongs to a closed cycle, and its clauses still show which lines a candidate has to match.
Separate application eligibility from selection-stage skill
Academic subjects are the subjects printed on the Intermediate marksheet. Computer credential is the exact certificate or diploma named by the Board. Typing performance is what the candidate demonstrates in the Board's qualifying test. Passing one box does not repair a failure in another.
The fourth box, other notified conditions, covers age, nationality, category relaxation, result-completion dates and document rules. Take current values only from the active advertisement and corrigenda. On timing, the 2023 notice refused candidates shown as Appeared or Appearing: the qualification and its certificate had to be in hand on the application date, and proving a qualification correct or equivalent was the candidate's own documentary burden, with the Board's decision final.
The 2023 clause did not list private computer work, data-entry experience or practical familiarity as an alternative credential. Do not convert experience into eligibility unless the active notice allows it. After checking, use the UP Police Computer Operator category as the exam-specific preparation hub.
Read the qualification sentence as two alternative routes
The Board's Computer Operator Grade-A direct recruitment notice dated 29 December 2023 gave two routes.
Route A: (Intermediate with Physics + Mathematics) AND (DOEACC, now NIELIT, O Level in Computers or an officially recognised equivalent).
OR
Route B: (Diploma in Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Electronics Engineering from the Board of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh, or a qualification recognised by the Government as equivalent).
The connectors decide the result. Route A needs both school subjects and the computer credential. Do not change Physics and Mathematics into a general science combination or assume every computer course equals O Level. The named branches and “recognised as equivalent” require documentary support.
Work three candidate files through the two routes
Anita Verma, Route A match under the past notice. Her 2021 Intermediate marksheet lists Physics 68/100 and Mathematics 72/100. Her NIELIT O Level result is dated 12 September 2022; both documents print Anita Verma. Both credential gates match the 2023 wording. Typing remains untested, so this is not final selection.
Dev Singh, Route B match under the past notice. He holds a Diploma in Information Technology awarded by the Board of Technical Education, Uttar Pradesh, on 30 June 2023. That diploma matches Route B without an O Level certificate. Every other notified condition still remains separate.
Sara Khan, no direct textual match. She has Intermediate Mathematics but no Physics, a BCA result dated 20 June 2023, and a CCC certificate dated 15 August 2022. None directly matches either 2023 route. Her result is unresolved unless an applicable government equivalence order covers the qualification, not “higher degree, therefore eligible”.

Handle O Level, CCC and higher degrees without guessing
NIELIT O Level and CCC are differently named credentials. Similar content, a higher-looking qualification or a private institute letter is not an official equivalence decision. Proof must come from the active notice, a government equivalence order or a UPPRPB clarification. The 2023 notice named its order: O Level equivalence was to be settled under the state government order dated 5 May 2022, carried as Annexure-1 of that notice. Ask which order the current cycle relies on.
Use this clarification format: Advertisement number | Computer Operator Grade-A | exact qualification printed on certificate | awarding body | result date | request for the applicable equivalence order. A coaching group's verbal opinion is not enough.
Qualification clauses differ sharply between recruitments, so read each one literally rather than carrying an assumption across: the DSSSB TGT Computer Science eligibility guide turns on subject-specific teaching qualifications, and the SSC CGL eligibility guide on age and attempt limits as much as education. Neither settles a UP Police file.
Treat typing as a separate two-language qualifying skill
In the 2023 past-cycle notice, the qualifying Computer Typing Test covered Hindi and English. Headline speeds were 25 words per minute in Hindi and 30 in English, with 85% accuracy and Unicode Inscript for Hindi. Verify all values in the active notice before treating them as current.
In practice, Rohan types 480 English words in 15 minutes with 24 incorrect. Gross speed is 480 / 15 = 32 WPM. Simple accuracy is (480 - 24) / 480 x 100 = 456 / 480 x 100 = 95%.
In Hindi, he types 390 words in 15 minutes with 18 incorrect. Gross speed is 390 / 15 = 26 WPM. Simple accuracy is (390 - 18) / 390 x 100 = 372 / 390 x 100 = 95.38%. Both exceed the 2023 benchmarks, but this is not UPPRPB's scoring formula. Only the Board's software and notified method can declare a pass.
Build a document-ready eligibility file
Audit these seven rows before applying:
Row | Evidence to check |
|---|---|
1 | Intermediate marksheet and certificate |
2 | Physics and Mathematics subject names |
3 | O Level certificate and result date, or named diploma and awarding body |
4 | Official equivalence order, if relied on |
5 | Identity and date-of-birth proof |
6 | Category or relaxation document, if claimed |
7 | Name-consistency evidence |
If the marksheet says Anita Kumari, the O Level certificate says Anita Verma, and the legal name-change record is dated 4 March 2022, mark it document-rule check required. Only the Board's verification instructions decide whether that record is sufficient.
Record advertisement number, page or clause, PDF date, and later corrigendum date beside each decision. Screenshots and search results cannot replace the official document.
The short version: decide first, then prepare
Use three outcomes: verified match when documents support every essential line, verified non-match when one clearly fails, or needs official clarification when wording remains unresolved. Avoid “probably eligible”.
