UP LT Grade Computer post: recruiting body and selection route
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) conducts the recruitment for Assistant Teacher, Trained Graduate Grade posts in Uttar Pradesh government colleges. Advertisement A-5/E-1/2025 includes Computer posts in the male and female branches.
The route has two examinations. The preliminary paper shortlists candidates for the main written examination, and the advertisement allows UPPSC to call up to fifteen times the number of vacancies to mains. Final selection is based on marks in the main written examination, not on a combined prelims-and-mains total.
Use the official UPPSC notification for the controlling qualification, age, relaxation, and examination clauses. The government teaching jobs category is useful for comparing preparation routes, but it does not replace Advertisement A-5/E-1/2025.
UP LT Grade Computer eligibility: accepted degree routes

The same table lists a B.Ed from an NCTE-recognised course as a preferential qualification. That wording matters: B.Ed can provide preference when other conditions are equal, but the Computer row does not make it an essential qualification. This differs from many other subjects in the recruitment, where B.Ed appears under essential qualifications.
For the 2025 recruitment, the age clause sets 21 to 40 years on 1 July 2025, followed by category-specific relaxations. Essential qualifications had to be complete by the application deadline. Check the notification rather than extending one listed degree route to an allied branch by assumption; UPPSC states that it does not advise candidates on individual eligibility.
UP LT Grade prelims exam pattern
The preliminary stage is one objective paper with 150 questions in two hours. It carries 300 marks: 30 General Studies questions and 120 Computer subject questions, with two marks assigned to each question.
A wrong answer attracts a penalty equal to one-third of the marks assigned to that question. Marking more than one option is treated as a wrong answer, while leaving a question blank carries no penalty. This makes elimination useful only when it improves your expected accuracy; blind attempts can erase gains from correct answers.
Prelims is a screening stage. Prepare for quick recall, short traces, output prediction, and option elimination, but remember that clearing it only earns entry to the descriptive mains.
UP LT Grade mains exam pattern
The main examination is a three-hour conventional written paper in the chosen subject. All 20 questions are compulsory and divided into two sections:
Section A: 10 short-answer questions, up to 125 words each, carrying 8 marks each for a total of 80 marks
Section B: 10 long-answer questions, up to 200 words each, carrying 12 marks each for a total of 120 marks
Mains therefore carries 200 marks in total. Selection is based on this mains score, so preparation cannot stop at recognising the correct option. You must also define, compare, justify, trace, and explain Computer Science concepts within a word limit.
Computer syllabus and preparation priorities across both stages
The official Computer syllabus spans foundations and applied CS: digital logic and discrete mathematics, programming, data structures and algorithms, computer organisation, operating systems, databases, networks, software engineering, web technology, and related areas. Convert each notified heading into a checklist rather than treating Computer Science as one large subject.
Study every topic through two different outputs:
Prelims output: identify the rule, trace a short program or algorithm, calculate a small result, and reject distractors quickly.
Mains output: write a definition, a compact derivation or trace, a comparison, and a structured explanation inside 125 or 200 words.
A useful topic cycle is concept review, objective questions, a closed-book short answer, and then one longer explanation. This prevents the common mistake of scoring well in MCQs while being unable to express the same idea in mains format.

Submitting an application does not establish eligibility. Build a one-page evidence matrix before relying on a degree or relaxation claim:
Copy the exact Computer qualification route you are using and place the matching degree and marksheets beside it.
If your degree title is different from the notified wording, find an explicit equivalence provision or written clarification instead of inferring equivalence from coursework.
