Relocation, shift and service-agreement questions seem binary. Under offer pressure, a fresher may hide a constraint or overpromise. The stronger approach separates firm boundaries, negotiable preferences and missing facts; related fresher answer guides are collected under Resume & Interview Preparation. Meera in Jaipur is interviewing for Hyderabad. She needs 21 calendar days to move, can travel with 72 hours' notice, accepts 07:00-23:00 shifts with 7 days' roster notice, cannot commit to regular 23:00-07:00 work, and will review written 24-month terms.
1. Build a boundary map before writing any answer
Sort conditions into firm constraints you cannot promise away, negotiable preferences that depend on details, and open questions for employers.
Firm: no regular 23:00-07:00 shift.
Preference: Hyderabad, 21-day move, 72-hour travel notice, 7-day roster notice.
Open: office, rotation, post-22:00 transport, agreement start and exit terms.
Give each value a reason and proof action. Her 21 days covers hostel notice and travel, so she checks the notice today. For 7 days, she asks if rosters are weekly or monthly. Share constraints, not private details.

2. Answer relocation questions with location, timing and conditions
Meera's four-part answer is: Yes, I am open to relocating to Hyderabad. Once I receive written confirmation of the base office and joining date, I would need 21 calendar days to arrange the move. I can travel for onboarding with 72 hours' notice. Could you confirm whether this role is permanently based in Hyderabad or may involve later transfers?
Compare three truthful variants: I can relocate to Hyderabad within 14 days; I can relocate within 30 days after my final-semester examination ends on 18 June; and I cannot relocate during the next 6 months, but I can work from Jaipur if the role permits it. Never convert the last into a false yes. For the framework, see HR Interview Questions for Freshers: How to Answer Honestly.
Asked What if we need you in 10 days?, Meera keeps 21 days but offers 5 working days of Hyderabad onboarding if accommodation is arranged, then moving by day 21. Offer this only if usable.
3. Handle shift questions by defining the schedule precisely
Replace I am flexible with: I can work a 07:00-14:00 or 14:00-23:00 shift and I can rotate between them when the roster is shared 7 days ahead. I cannot commit to a regular 23:00-07:00 shift, so I want to be transparent about that. Could you explain the normal rotation and the transport policy for shifts ending after 22:00?
A four-week roster of 07:00-14:00, 14:00-23:00, 07:00-14:00 and 14:00-23:00 works with 7 days' notice. A week-3 switch to 23:00-07:00 with 24 hours' notice crosses both boundaries. Meera flags both.
Before promising, ask exact times, rotation frequency, roster notice, and transport or safety arrangements. The employer's documents define its rules.
4. Treat a service-agreement question as a request to review terms
For The role has a 24-month service agreement. Are you comfortable with that?, Meera answers: I am interested in the role and I can consider a 24-month commitment. Before I confirm, I would like to read the written agreement, especially when the 24 months begins, what applies if either side ends employment, and whether the terms change after 6, 12 and 18 months. May I review the document before accepting?
Check: start 1 August; end 31 July two years later; probation 6 months; reviews at months 6, 12 and 18; role; location; training; termination; resignation; transfer; and early-exit recovery method. Seek qualified independent advice on unclear or consequential clauses.
If the recruiter says 24 months from joining but the draft says 24 months after a 3-month training period, the end points differ. Quote both, ask which controls and await a correction. Never guess enforceability.
5. Keep every answer consistent with the application and documents
Write five lines: location Hyderabad; lead time 21 calendar days; shifts 07:00-23:00; regular overnight no; agreement review written 24-month terms before confirming. Check the resume, form, email and notes. Keep speech consistent with your record, as Resume for Freshers: Clear the First Screen explains.
If a form says willing to work any shift, correct it early: I selected that option before I had the exact timings. I can rotate between 07:00-14:00 and 14:00-23:00 with 7 days' notice, but I cannot commit to a regular 23:00-07:00 schedule. I wanted to correct that now so you have an accurate answer.
6. Rehearse the relocation, shift and agreement answers in 3 hours over 7 days
Plan 180 minutes (3 hours): day 1, boundaries (25); day 2, location and move (25); day 3, four rosters (25); day 4, agreement questions (30); day 5, recordings (25); day 6, pressure mock (30); day 7, sheet revision (20). Check: 25 + 25 + 25 + 30 + 25 + 30 + 20 = 180. If a day is missed, combine at most two 25-minute tasks and keep day 6.
Produce one boundary map, three relocation variants, one shift sentence, eight agreement questions, three sub-45-second recordings and a 15-minute mock. Use Accenture, Capgemini, Cognizant Placement Prep Compared for employer research, not proof of universal shifts or agreements.
Ask: Can you join in 10 days?, What if the roster changes tomorrow?, and Why can you not sign today? Score 0 to 2 on truthfulness, specificity and a clear next question. Maximum: 3 answers x 3 criteria x 2 points = 18. Below 12, rewrite and repeat.
7. Correct the answer patterns that fail under offer pressure
Automatic yes: it comes from fear of losing the role, and a promise you cannot keep reverses after joining. State the boundary and the option you can genuinely offer.
Oversharing: offer pressure pulls in personal detail, which costs privacy and blurs the answer. Share only the operational constraint, such as the 21-day lead time.
Invented flexibility: the desire to please produces a claim that one question about exact timings exposes. Give a precise window instead.
Instant acceptance: under offer pressure the recruiter's verbal summary starts to control the decision. Review the written terms and ask dated questions before confirming.
Replace Relocation is no problem with Hyderabad works for me and I need 21 calendar days after written confirmation. Replace Any shift is fine with I can rotate between 07:00-14:00 and 14:00-23:00 with 7 days' notice, but not a regular 23:00-07:00 shift. Stay calm and factual.
8. Use the 60-second final check, then confirm the offer in writing
In 60 seconds, check location, lead time, earliest travel, shift window, firm boundary and needed documents. State what is possible and the boundary, ask for missing facts, then confirm in writing.
Afterwards, confirm Hyderabad, 21 calendar days, 72 hours' travel notice, 07:00-23:00 shifts, 7 days' roster notice, no regular 23:00-07:00 commitment, and a decision pending written 24-month terms. Request corrections before acceptance.
