HPSC PGT Computer Science 2026 uses specific rules, not a generic PGT checklist. Your application needed a named degree route, the Hindi or Sanskrit condition, an HTET or STET certificate, the required academic record, and eligible age on 9 March 2026. Advertisement 23/2026 controls, and applications are closed.
1. HPSC PGT Computer Science 2026 at a glance
HPSC advertised PGT Computer Science for the Rest of Haryana and Mewat cadres. The official HPSC Advertisement 23/2026 closed at 5:00 PM on 9 March 2026.
These five gates had to be satisfied together:
Gate | 2026 requirement |
|---|---|
Computer qualification | One of the listed regular Computer Science, Computer Engineering or IT routes, with the required aggregate |
Language | Hindi or Sanskrit at Matric, or Hindi as a subject at 10+2, B.A. or M.A. |
Teacher eligibility test | Certificate showing that you qualified HTET or STET |
Academic record | The notified 50% average rule, plus the route-specific 55% minimum |
Age | 18 to 42 on 9 March 2026, subject to an applicable relaxation |
The Govt Teaching Job Exam Preparation category can help you compare preparation resources, but it cannot replace the HPSC advertisement when deciding eligibility.
2. HPSC PGT Computer Science degree routes and marks
The 2026 advertisement names three qualification routes from a recognised university:
M.Sc. Computer Science through a regular two-year course.
MCA through a regular three-year course.
Regular B.E. or B.Tech. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology.
Each route requires 55% aggregate marks. The advertisement does not separately list BCA, B.Sc. Computer Science, Software Engineering, an online MCA or a specialised computing degree.
The essential-qualification list does not include B.Ed. for this Computer Science recruitment. Importing a B.Ed rule from another PGT subject or another recruiting body would add a condition that Advertisement 23/2026 does not state.
HPSC defines a consistent good academic record as a 50% average across any three of Class 10, Class 12, graduation and post-graduation. The candidate still needs 55% in the relevant graduation or post-graduation route. Scheduled Caste and persons with benchmark disability candidates receive up to 5% relaxation in the qualifying marks, making that minimum 52.25%.
The earlier-publishing Teaching CS Exams Compared: DSSSB, KVS, RSSB, one core is the better starting point if your question is which teaching exam to target. HPSC eligibility itself turns on the exact routes above.
3. HTET, STET and Hindi requirements
Advertisement 23/2026 requires a certificate showing that the candidate qualified the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET) or School Teachers Eligibility Test (STET). It does not offer a pending-result route or say that strong subject marks can substitute for the certificate.
The language condition is separate. You need Hindi or Sanskrit at Matric level, or Hindi as one of the subjects at 10+2, B.A. or M.A. Satisfying the computer-degree clause does not satisfy this language clause.
Keep the HTET or STET certificate and the marksheet proving the language subject. HPSC assesses the claim from the uploaded documents.
Do not transfer the rules from DSSSB TGT Computer Science eligibility and CBT marking. DSSSB is a different post and recruiting body with its own degree and B.Ed logic; the HPSC 2026 Computer Science list above is the relevant one here.
4. HPSC PGT age limit and relaxations
The basic age window was 18 to 42 years on or before 9 March 2026. The Matriculation certificate, or an equivalent academic certificate, is the only accepted evidence of age.
Haryana Scheduled Caste and Backward Class candidates receive five years of upper-age relaxation where the post is reserved for their category.
Persons covered by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act receive five years. A further five years may apply with an SC, ST, BC or EWS category, subject to a maximum age of 52.
Other cases include five years for specified women categories, military service plus three years for eligible ex-servicemen, and completed years of equivalent Haryana government adhoc, contract, work-charged or daily-wage service. The general combined-relaxation ceiling is 52, except for ex-servicemen. Each claim needs the specified certificate.
5. Closing-date and document rules
Educational qualifications and the other eligibility conditions had to be complete by 9 March 2026. HPSC states that no certificate issued after the closing date will be accepted at any stage, and an improvement in marks after that date will not count for this recruitment.
Only qualifications claimed in the form and uploaded documents are considered. Keep degree records, the HTET or STET certificate, language-subject and age proof, plus any certificate supporting a relaxation.
An admit card is provisional, not proof that HPSC accepted every eligibility claim. Detailed document assessment normally follows interview qualification, although HPSC may check earlier.
6. HPSC selection stages and final merit
The notified process has up to three stages:
Stage | Role in the 2026 process |
|---|---|
Screening test | 100 MCQs, two hours and 100 marks; one-fourth mark deducted for a wrong answer or an unmarked response; 25% minimum for shortlisting; marks excluded from final merit |
Subject Knowledge Test | Three hours and 150 marks; 35% minimum for interview shortlisting; 87.5% weight in final merit |
Interview or viva voce | 12.5% weight in final merit |
HPSC may call candidates directly for the Subject Knowledge Test without screening. When screening is used, candidates up to four times the advertised posts advance, subject to the minimum. Interview shortlisting is up to twice the posts. Final merit combines the Subject Knowledge Test and interview, not the screening score.
7. Once eligible, prepare for the subject stage
Eligibility opens the gate. Preparation must cover the notified areas, including computer organisation, programming, data structures, operating systems, databases, networks, software engineering and web technologies.
The HPSC PGT CS 2026 Interview Preparation and Complete Course provides a structured route for the recruitment's subject and interview preparation. Use it after confirming that your own documents satisfy every eligibility gate.
8. HPSC eligibility: the short version
For Advertisement 23/2026, an eligible candidate needed one of the named regular computer-degree routes with the required marks, the Hindi or Sanskrit condition, a qualified HTET or STET certificate, a consistent good academic record, and age within the applicable window on 9 March 2026. B.Ed is not listed as an essential qualification for this Computer Science recruitment.
Recheck the official advertisement against the submitted documents. Degree title, study mode, aggregate, test certificate, language subject, age proof and any relaxation certificate must independently support the claim.
