United Rajasthan (Sanyukt Rajasthan) was inaugurated on 18 April 1948 at Udaipur by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister. This was the third phase of the integration of Rajasthan, in which the earlier Rajasthan Union merged with the Udaipur (Mewar) state. Maharana Bhupal Singh of Mewar was made the Rajpramukh, Manikya Lal Verma became the Prime Minister, and Udaipur served as the capital. Thus, the leader who performed the inauguration was Jawaharlal Nehru.
