MPPSC Assistant Professor Eligibility and Selection Process: Qualification, Subject Match and Stages

“MPPSC teaching” can mean State Service, MP SET, school-level TGT or PGT recruitment, or an Assistant Professor post in another subject. Start with the exact commission, department, post, subject, advertisement number and date. First identify the exact MPPSC teaching notification

Build a six-field identity card before reading any eligibility summary:

A State Service, MP SET, or Computer Application notice cannot replace it. Use official Advertisement No. 28/2025 for eligibility, the official scheme or syllabus for the written paper, and later corrigenda for changes. After confirming the identity, use the MPPSC preparation category for relevant course options.

Treat MPPSC eligibility as a chain of gates

Check reference-date age, printed postgraduate or allied subject, marks or relaxation, NET/SLET/SET or a valid PhD exemption, category and domicile, then the qualification deadline.

For this worked cycle, Advertisement No. 28/2025 specifies age from 21 to under 40 on 1 January 2026, a 55% postgraduate-marks general rule, and qualifications held by 16 May 2026. Read relaxations in the advertisement and annexure. Do not carry these specifics into a later cycle.

“Postgraduate plus NET” is therefore incomplete advice. One failed gate can make an application ineligible even when every other credential is strong.

Check subject equivalence by the printed table

The advertisement and its cited Madhya Pradesh Higher Education Department order name Information Technology and Computer Application as allied subjects. The printed list includes M.Sc. Computer Science, M.Sc. Information Technology, MCA, M.Tech Computer Science, M.Tech Computer Science and Engineering, M.Tech Information Technology, M.E. Computer Science or Computer Engineering, and M.E. Information Technology. Copy the degree title exactly and check any clarification if the table looks duplicated or unclear.

Consider candidate A: MCA, 57.8% postgraduate marks, NET in Computer Science, date of birth 15 June 1993, and all certificates available by 16 May 2026.

1. 15 June 1993 to 15 June 2025 = 32 years.

2. 15 June 2025 to 1 January 2026 = 6 months, 17 days.

3. Reference-date age = 32 years, 6 months, 17 days.

4. Marks margin = 57.8% minus 55% = 2.8 percentage points.

5. MCA is listed, and NET is present.

On these numbers candidate A clears four gates (age, marks, subject title and NET), provisionally and subject to every remaining condition and document scrutiny.

Candidate B has M.Tech Data Science with 68%, NET Computer Science, and age 29. These strengths do not cure the subject-title issue because Data Science is not named. Do not declare eligibility without an official clarification or applicable corrigendum.

Read the NET, SET and PhD clauses literally

Advertisement No. 28/2025 combines the relevant master’s qualification with NET or its specified SLET/SET equivalent. It addresses Madhya Pradesh SET, while another state’s SET is not automatically accepted under this notice.

“PhD means NET exempt” is unsafe shorthand. The exemption depends on UGC regulations, registration before or after 11 July 2009, and supporting certifications. Match your date and evidence to the exact clause. The UGC NET Computer Science guide is preparation context, not MPPSC authority.

Map the selection process without importing prelims and mains

The advertisement sets out an objective OMR-based written examination with negative marking, category-wise shortlisting on written marks, document scrutiny, interview, and a final result using written plus interview marks. Interview absence means the candidate is not considered selected.

The interview-call base can extend to three times the relevant category’s advertised posts, plus candidates tied at the boundary score. Eligibility scrutiny still applies. Do not rename the stages “prelims” and “mains” unless the subject scheme does.

Work the shortlist and final-total arithmetic

Suppose, only for illustration, a category has 4 posts. The base pool is 4 x 3 = 12 candidates. If ranks 12, 13 and 14 are tied at 142 written marks, the call extends through rank 14. All 14 may be called, subject to scrutiny. Here, 142 is not a predicted cutoff.

Now compare two illustrative final totals:

• Candidate A: 312 written + 38 interview = 350.

• Candidate B: 318 written + 29 interview = 347.

• Difference: 350 minus 347 = 3 marks.

Candidate A finishes 3 marks ahead despite scoring 6 marks less in writing (318 minus 312). Shortlisted, eligible, called for interview, and placed in final merit are four different statuses.

Build a document proof pack before relying on a yes

A master’s result declared on 20 May 2026 lands four calendar days after this advertisement’s 16 May qualification cutoff. Earlier submission or later scrutiny does not repair that gap. If equivalence, exemption, or certificate format is unclear, save a dated copy of the official page and seek written clarification before paying the fee or submitting the form.
