Am I eligible to apply for IBPS Clerk, and which stage actually decides selection? Under the completed CRP CSA-XV notice, eligibility was a document-and-date check, while selection ran through Preliminary, Main, provisional allotment and a qualifying local-language check where required. IBPS now calls the post Customer Service Associate (CSA). This guide gives you a simple eligibility worksheet and a score-flow example tied to that notice.

IBPS Clerk eligibility and selection: keep the two gates separate

The eligibility gate checks citizenship, reference-date age, cutoff-date graduation, computer literacy, chosen State or UT and local-language proficiency. The selection gate requires you to clear Preliminary, rank in Main for your State or UT and category, receive provisional allotment, meet the language rule, and pass bank document and identity checks.

Under CRP CSA-XV, candidates applied for one State or UT and chose one permitted local language there. An outside test centre assigned for administrative reasons did not change that vacancy State or UT. See IBPS Clerk Eligibility: Degree, Language and Computer Proof for document details.

Who could apply under CRP CSA-XV: the dated checklist

These rules and values come from the completed CRP CSA-XV detailed notification, not a prediction. Recheck the active notice before applying.

Riya

Born 15 November 1999; B.Com result 30 June 2024; Computer Applications in semester two; Class 10 Hindi; Uttar Pradesh, Hindi

Inside the birth window; graduation precedes the cutoff; records address computer and language. She passes this four-part screen.

Nationality, category and other conditions

Arjun

General category; born 1 August 1997; B.Sc. in 2023; computer certificate; Class 10 Hindi

Born one day before 2 August 1997, he fails the unrelaxed age gate. Degree and skills cannot cure it.

None changes the age result

Dev

Born 4 May 2001; B.A. result declared 22 August 2025; computer and language records available

Declared one day after 21 August 2025, the result fails this leg. Exam completion, an expected result or a later certificate cannot replace the rule.

Timely graduation result

Test every condition independently. Four green checks cannot cancel one red check. An accepted application is not an eligibility ruling.

IBPS Clerk selection process from Preliminary to allotment

The sequence was: application and eligibility screen, Preliminary, Main, State or UT and category merit plus bank preference, provisional allotment, local-language proof or qualifying LLPT, bank verification, then appointment decision. There was no interview, so do not import the PO process.

Candidates had to qualify each Preliminary test and be shortlisted. The IBPS Clerk Pattern: Prelims to Mains Section Map explains the sections in more detail.

IBPS Clerk or CSA selection flow using the completed CRP CSA-XV values. Show exactly eight connected boxes: 1 Apply for one State/UT and opt for one listed local language; 2 Preliminary: English 30Q/30M/20 min + Numerical 35Q/35M/20 min + Reasoning 35Q/35M/20 min = 100Q/100M/60 min; 3 Qualify each Preliminary test and be shortlisted, Preliminary marks do not enter final merit; 4 Main: General/Financial Awareness 40Q/50M/20 min + English 40Q/40M/35 min + Reasoning 40Q/60M/35 min + Quantitative Aptitude 35Q/50M/30 min = 155Q/200M/120 min; 5 Worked scale example: 124/200 x 100 = 62/100 before any official correction or normalisation effect; 6 State/UT and category merit plus bank preference -> provisional allotment; 7 Class 10-or-above proof of opted local language -> LLPT exemption, otherwise marks-based qualifying LLPT after Main/provisional allotment and before joining; 8 allotted bank verifies eligibility and identity, then decides appointment. Add a red side note No interview in the cited CSA-XV flow. Footer: Completed 2025 notice example. Recheck the active notice at ibps.in; provisional allotment is not an appointment offer.

Which score counts for final merit: a 124-to-62 worked example

Only Main marks built final merit. The 200 marks were scaled to 100 for provisional allotment:

124 / 200 x 100 = 0.62 x 100 = 62 / 100

That 62 is illustrative, neither cutoff nor guarantee. Official results control after wrong-answer correction and equi-percentile normalisation where applicable. Never add Preliminary and Main marks.

Suppose Neha, born 14 March 1998, and Kavya, born 22 November 1999, both receive an official 62.00. The cited date-of-birth tie practice places older Neha above Kavya. Allotment still depends on State or UT vacancies, category, merit position and preferences. Preliminary screens, Main creates merit, LLPT qualifies, and the bank decides appointment after verification.

Local-language and document checks can still stop appointment

A Class 10-or-above record showing the opted language exempted a candidate from LLPT. Otherwise, the marks-based qualifying test followed Main or provisional allotment and preceded joining; failure meant no appointment. Riya's Class 10 Hindi supports exemption for Uttar Pradesh and Hindi. Sameer, with the same choice but no such Hindi record, must qualify LLPT if required.

Keep birth proof; graduation mark sheets and degree or provisional certificate showing the result date; computer proof; local-language proof; valid category, OBC-NCL, PwBD or ex-servicemen documents if claimed; application printout; and current identity records. The live notice and bank communication control the final list.

Final IBPS Clerk eligibility decision and the right next step

Six-line self-check:

  • Valid citizenship or certificate status

  • Age inside the window after documented relaxation

  • Graduation declared by cutoff

  • Computer proof ready

  • One State or UT plus one permitted language

  • Clear path through Preliminary, Main, merit, language and verification

Any no requires an active-notice check.

Eligible beginners: IBPS Clerk (CSA) Prelims. Stage-two learners: IBPS Clerk (CSA) Mains. Both are stage-specific paths. The IBPS Exam Preparation hub holds more than 1,800 published IBPS-tagged practice questions. This is broad IBPS practice, not Clerk-only content or official PYQs.

The short version: meet every eligibility condition. Preliminary did not create final merit, and provisional allotment remained conditional on language and bank verification. The final authority is ibps.in.
