Clearing the online stages does not settle local-language readiness. Generic English practice cannot prove ability in the one State or UT language selected in your application. The completed 2025 CRP CSA-XV notification tested reading, writing, speaking and understanding, allowed a certificate-based exemption, and placed a qualifying LLPT after the Main examination or provisional allotment but before joining. LLPT preparation requires the applicable rules, the State or UT language options and a practical 14-day drill.
What the IBPS Clerk language proficiency test actually checks
Aspirants search for IBPS Clerk LPT, but CSA-XV called the post Customer Service Associate and the stage Local Language Proficiency Test (LLPT). Here LPT is only shorthand.
Clause H says a candidate chooses one listed State or UT language during application. An independent body or the allotted bank conducts the marks-based, qualifying four-ability test after the Main examination or provisional allotment, but before joining. Failure means no appointment. No universal duration, pass mark or task type is specified.
The IBPS Clerk Eligibility: Degree, Language and Computer Proof guide explains how the local-language requirement fits beside the graduation and computer-literacy checks. The IBPS PO & SO IT Exam Preparation hub covers the separate online-exam stage.

Assam offered 3 options, but an applicant chose only 1. Maharashtra offered 1: Marathi. Home use, local popularity or another State's list does not replace the application choice.
Who may be exempt, and who should prepare
CSA-XV exempts a candidate whose Class 10 or higher marksheet or certificate evidences study of the specified or opted local language. Fluency claims, home use, self-declarations and informal certificates are not equivalent.
Arman selected Bengali for Assam; his Class 12 marksheet lists Bengali. He enters the exemption route, subject to bank verification. Riya selected Marathi for Maharashtra; her Class 10 marksheet lists Hindi and English. Those 2 entries do not evidence Marathi, so she should prepare unless the bank accepts another qualifying record.
Keep together:
Application print with the selected language.
Class 10-or-above record with that language.
The allotted bank's call letter or joining instructions.
Ask the allotted bank about conflicts; it controls joining formalities.
Practise all four abilities as one loop
Practice simulation, not an official IBPS format: Riya gets 3 minutes for a 120-word branch notice. The counter closes on 18 September from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm; ATM and UPI stay available; tokens resume at 4:15 pm; senior-citizen help moves to desk 3. She answers 5 factual questions, gives a 60-second oral summary without looking and writes a 70-word reply.
All four times or identifiers must survive. Do not call the entire branch closed, change 4:15 pm to 4:00 pm, or merge desk 3 with ATM and UPI. Reading locates, understanding relates, speaking retrieves and writing communicates facts accurately.
For a nonofficial check, 4 abilities x 5 points = 20. First: reading 4/5, understanding 3/5, writing 2/5 and speaking 3/5, so 4 + 3 + 2 + 3 = 12/20. In the same order, 4 + 4 + 4 + 3 = 15/20, up 3. This is not an IBPS cutoff. Bank PO English: A Section Strategy teaches transferable reading and review, but LLPT output must use the selected language.

Use a 14-day, 45-minute practice plan
Plan 14 days x 45 minutes = 630 minutes = 10.5 hours. Daily: 10 reading + 10 understanding + 10 writing + 10 speaking + 5 error-log minutes = 45 in the selected language.
Days 1 to 3: Diagnose on a branch notice, public-service message and news item.
Days 4 to 7: Repair the weakest ability with one 120-word input and one 70-word response daily.
Days 8 to 11: Run four loops with a 3-minute read and 60-second summary.
Days 12 to 13: Record two back-to-back simulations; compare four-ability checks.
Day 14: Review errors, documents and selected language; stop heavy practice.
Miss day 6? Do 45 + 10 = 55 minutes on day 7, carrying only the weakest task, and remove one duplicate drill later. Do not attempt 90 minutes. Banking Exam Preparation Plan That Works Whatever the Calendar explains this recovery principle, not an LLPT rule.
Avoid mistakes that create false confidence
Mistake | Consequence | Replacement |
|---|---|---|
Practising English after selecting another language | Wrong output is trained | Use the selected language throughout |
Speaking only | Reading and writing remain untested | Keep the four-part loop |
Memorising model answers | One changed date breaks recall | Summarise fresh factual notices |
Ignoring script accuracy | Names and amounts become ambiguous | Keep a 10-word spelling list per drill |
Treating 15/20 as a pass mark | False certainty | Call it a private diagnostic |
CSA-XV fixes the four abilities, selected language, exemption, timing, qualifying status and failure consequence. It leaves common passage length, question count, duration, bank format, weightage and universal qualifying score unspecified. Follow the current bank call letter. Use dates, forms, notices and customer explanations, but never label them previous-year LLPT questions without an official source.
IBPS Clerk LPT: key checks and next steps
Confirm the State or UT, recover the 1 selected language, check a Class 10-or-above record, then practise all 4 abilities if needed. Remember: 1 language, 4 abilities, 14 days, 45 minutes daily, 630 minutes. The 20-point scale and 12 to 15 example are private diagnostics. CSA-XV is dated; the newest IBPS notice and bank control joining.
After local-language practice, the IBPS PO Prelims Preparation Course can support general English work for the separate online exam. It does not provide Clerk-specific LLPT preparation, replace selected-language practice or determine LLPT qualification.
