From I: Manoj born 1997; Manoj is 5 years older than Mala → Mala = 1997 + 5 = 2002; Mala’s sister is 2 years younger than Manoj → sister = 1997 + 2 = 1999. So I alone suffices. From II: Mala = 2002 and is 3 years younger than her sister → sister = 2002 − 3 = 1999. So II alone also suffices. Therefore either statement alone is sufficient.
