1) Protect personal privacy : These laws place strict rules on how companies collect, store, and share your personal information (like your name, address, medical records, or browsing history). It gives individuals the right to know what data is held about them and to have it deleted if necessary.

2) Prevent viruses : Preventing viruses is a technical task handled by cybersecurity software like antivirus programs, firewalls, and endpoint protection. Laws cannot mechanically stop a computer virus.

3) Increase the security of computer systems : While the Act requires companies to have good security measures in place so data doesn't get leaked, increasing system security is just a means to an end. The ultimate purpose of the law is to protect the people behind the data, not the computers themselves.

4) Reduce project failures : This is a concept from project management and software engineering (using frameworks like Agile or DevOps). Data privacy legislation does not manage project success rates.
