Accenture is one of the largest recruiters of Indian engineering freshers, and its selection process is broader than most candidates expect. What eliminates the most people is usually not the coding test but the sheer spread: verbal ability, reasoning, pseudo code, networking, cloud basics, MS Office, coding, and a dedicated communication assessment, all before you reach an interviewer. This post walks through what each round actually tests and gives you a week-wise plan to cover the spread without drowning in it.
One ground rule first: question counts, sectional timings and cutoffs vary between drives and cycles, so confirm the pattern for your specific drive on the official Accenture careers portal or in the instructions your college or Superset shares. The shape of the assessment is what stays stable, and it is what you plan around.
Accenture selection process: the rounds at a glance
Accenture's fresher assessment (Associate Software Engineer and similar profiles, hired on-campus or off-campus through Superset) runs through four fronts. Our Accenture Superset preparation course is organised along exactly these fronts, which is how you should split your study time:

Accenture cognitive assessment: verbal, reasoning and abstract sections
The cognitive assessment is standard aptitude territory with an Accenture flavour. Three question families matter:
Verbal ability: reading comprehension, sentence correction, vocabulary in context. If English sections slow you down, fix this first; verbal speed buys you time everywhere else.
Critical reasoning and problem-solving: arrangements, syllogisms, data-based reasoning, and numerical problem-solving. These reward practised patterns; almost every question type here repeats across years.
Abstract reasoning: figure series and pattern completion. Candidates who have never seen these before lose easy marks; thirty minutes of exposure a week makes them a scoring section.

Accenture technical assessment: pseudo code, networking, cloud and MS Office
This round is where Accenture differs most from other service-based recruiters. It is MCQ-based, not written coding, and it is broad:
Pseudo code is the heart of the section. You read language-agnostic code snippets and predict the output: loops, conditionals, recursion, string and array manipulation. If you can trace code on paper accurately, this section is yours. Practise tracing by hand, line by line, without running anything.
Networking questions stay at the fundamentals: the OSI and TCP/IP models, common protocols, IP addressing basics.
Security and cloud covers the vocabulary of modern IT services: types of attacks, basic cryptography ideas, cloud service models. Breadth beats depth; recognition-level knowledge is enough.
Common applications and MS Office questions look trivial and are exactly where overconfident CS students drop marks. Spend one honest evening on them.
None of this is hard. The risk is coverage: four small areas, easily postponed, and then all four turn up on test day. Put them on the calendar early.
Accenture coding assessment: implementation over algorithms
The coding round asks you to write complete, running programs. The problems lean toward implementation: string processing, array manipulation, number logic, and straightforward use of loops and conditions. Hard algorithmic tricks are rarely the gate; writing clean, correct code under time is.
Three rules for this round:
Pick one language and stay there. C, C++, Java or Python, whichever you can write without looking things up. Switching languages mid-preparation costs more than any language advantage gains.
Practise full programs, not snippets. Read input, handle edge cases, print exactly the expected output. Most failed submissions die on input handling, not logic.
Solve daily. One or two problems every day beats a weekend binge. Code-writing speed is muscle memory.
Accenture communication assessment: the round nobody practises
Accenture is unusual among service-based recruiters in running a dedicated communication assessment: a computer-evaluated test of spoken English, typically involving listening and repeating, reading aloud, and responding to prompts. Candidates ignore it because it does not feel like an exam subject, and it becomes the surprise stumble.
The fix is unglamorous: speak aloud, daily. Read one article out loud, record yourself retelling it in your own words, and listen back. Fifteen to twenty minutes a day for a few weeks produces a real difference in fluency and pronunciation.
Accenture preparation plan: six weeks, week by week
The plan assumes about 2 to 2.5 hours a day, six days a week, roughly 90 hours in total. If you miss a day, use the seventh as a catch-up slot rather than compressing tomorrow. If you miss a week, cut mock count, never the daily coding and speaking habits.
Week 1: baseline and cognitive foundations. Take one full-length mock cold to find your weak sections. Then daily verbal plus reasoning sets. Start the 15-minute speaking habit today, not in week 5.
Week 2: cognitive practice plus pseudo code. Continue timed aptitude sets. Add daily pseudo-code tracing, 10 to 15 snippets a day, on paper.
Week 3: technical breadth. Networking, security and cloud, and MS Office concept revision with MCQ practice, one area every two days. Keep one aptitude set daily so speed does not decay.
Week 4: coding block. One or two full programs daily in your chosen language. Pseudo code continues at a lighter 5 snippets a day.
Week 5: mixed practice. Alternate days between cognitive plus technical sets and coding. Raise speaking practice to 20 minutes with recorded self-review.
Week 6: full-length mocks and an error log. Two or three complete simulated assessments. After each, spend as long reviewing errors as you spent taking the test. Revise only from the error log in the final days.
Ninety honest hours are enough for this exam; ninety imagined ones are not. The plan only works if the daily coding and speaking slots survive your busiest days.
