Show answer & explanation
Correct answer: B
Conclusion: The student should not be admitted.
Reasoning:
Age requirement: The student must be 19 years or older on June 30, 2010. Vishakha was 16 on January 14, 2009, which implies a birth around January 1993, so on June 30, 2010 she is about 17 years 5–6 months and thus below 19.
Entrance exam requirement: The student must score at least 70% in the entrance exam. Vishakha scored 69%, which is below the required cutoff.
12th standard marks and special referral: The referral-to-authority exception applies only if the student meets all other conditions except the entrance exam and has 85% in 12th. Vishakha has 80% in 12th, so the referral exception does not apply.
Fee payment: Vishakha can pay the required Rs. 25,000, so the fee condition is satisfied; the tentative admission rule (for paying half the fee) is not relevant here.
Because Vishakha fails the mandatory age requirement and the entrance exam cutoff, she should not be admitted despite meeting the fee and general 12th marks criteria.
