Correct answer: B
Key idea: divide the 8 bats between the two cooks in proportion to how many pizzas of each cook were eaten by the other two.
Steps:
Total pizzas cooked = 5 (Sehwag) + 3 (Ganguly) = 8.
Each of the three ate an equal share: 8 ÷ 3 = 8/3 pizzas each.
Amount of Sehwag’s pizzas eaten by the other two = 5 − 8/3 = 7/3.
Amount of Ganguly’s pizzas eaten by the other two = 3 − 8/3 = 1/3.
Ratio of their losses (what others ate of each cook’s pizzas) = 7/3 : 1/3 = 7 : 1.
Divide the 8 bats in this ratio: Sehwag gets 7 parts and Ganguly gets 1 part → Sehwag 7 bats, Ganguly 1 bat.
Answer: Sehwag gets 7 bats and Ganguly gets 1 bat.
