Correct answer: D
Answer: 16
Total students = 800. Secondary Section = 80% of 800 = 640. The remaining 160 students are equally divided between Class 11 and Class 12, so each of Class 11 and Class 12 has 80 students.
Males in Class 12 = 60% of 80 = 48. Females in Class 12 = 80 - 48 = 32.
Total vegetarians in school = 53% of 800 = 424. Vegetarians in Secondary Section = 55% of 640 = 352. Vegetarians in Class 11 = 50% of 80 = 40. Therefore vegetarians in Class 12 = 424 - 352 - 40 = 32.
In Class 12, 25% of the vegetarians are male → male vegetarians = 25% of 32 = 8. Hence female vegetarians in Class 12 = 32 - 8 = 24.
Male non-vegetarians in Class 12 = total males in Class 12 - male vegetarians = 48 - 8 = 40.
Required difference = |female vegetarians − male non-vegetarians| = |24 - 40| = 16.
