In each question below, details of one candidate are provided. Correct answer: B

Concept: In a Selection/Decision Table item, check the candidate one by one against every stated condition. If every condition is satisfied, select the candidate. If exactly one condition fails, look only at the specific exception attached to that same condition — the exception's own extra qualifying attribute must also match the candidate before its referral action applies. If that extra attribute does not match (or if more than one condition fails), the general rule takes over and the candidate is not selected.

Application:

  1. Age on 1 August 2017 (must be not more than 25 years): born 29 August 1995, so he is 21 years old on the cut-off date — condition met.

  2. Class 10th marks (must be at least 80%): scored 85% — condition met.

  3. Class 12th marks, any discipline (must be at least 70%): scored 65% — condition NOT met.

  4. Group Discussion score (must be at least 70%): scored 80% — condition met.

  5. Personal Interview score (must be at least 60%): scored 65% — condition met.

Only the class 12th condition fails, so the exception tied to it must be checked next. That exception additionally requires a Science background in class 12th. Pranav's stream is Commerce, so the extra qualifying attribute of the exception is not met — the exception does not apply to him. The other exception is irrelevant here because the Personal Interview condition is already satisfied on its own. With exactly one un-excepted failing condition, the general rule applies and he cannot be selected.

Cross-check: If Pranav's stream had been Science instead of Commerce, with the same 65% in class 12th, the exception would have applied and the case would have gone for referral instead of rejection — confirming that it is the stream, not the percentage, that keeps the exception from applying here.
