This is an attribute-elimination puzzle: each friend has one cap colour and one snack, and every clue rules out candidates for a specific person or pairing. Solve it by filling a person-by-attribute grid, applying the direct clues first and then using the remaining clues to narrow down whichever attributes are still shared between two or more people.

Applying the four clues in order:

1. Clue III fixes Bharati to the yellow cap and Amit to the blue cap directly.

2. This leaves the green, white and red caps to be split among Cheryl, Deepak and Eric.

3. Clue IV says Eric eats pizza and does not wear the green cap, so Eric wears either the white or the red cap.

4. Clue I ties the red cap to pastries. Since Eric eats pizza, not pastries, Eric cannot wear the red cap either — so Eric wears the white cap.

5. Only the green and red caps now remain, to be split between Cheryl and Deepak.

6. Clue II fixes Cheryl to sandwiches. Since the red cap always goes with pastries (clue I), Cheryl cannot wear the red cap.

7. So Cheryl wears the green cap, and Deepak — the only friend left — wears the red cap and eats pastries.

8. For the snacks, only burgers and ice cream remain, for Amit and Bharati. Clue II says Amit does not eat ice cream, so Amit eats burgers and Bharati eats ice cream.

Checking the final grid against every clue: the red-cap wearer, Deepak, eats pastries (clue I); Amit does not eat ice cream and Cheryl eats sandwiches (clue II); Bharati wears yellow and Amit wears blue (clue III); Eric eats pizza and does not wear green (clue IV). All four clues hold together.
