In a sentence-rearrangement (para-jumble) item, the opening sentence is the one that introduces the topic without relying on any pronoun, demonstrative, or connective (such as ‘however’, ‘this’, ‘therefore’) that needs an earlier sentence to make sense. Every other sentence is then placed by tracing which preceding idea its connective or pronoun continues, until the chain accounts for every sentence and ends on a genuine concluding statement.
