Concept

The Seventh Schedule distributes legislative subjects among the Union List, State List, and Concurrent List. Parliament legislates on Union subjects, State legislatures ordinarily legislate on State subjects, and both may legislate on Concurrent subjects subject to the constitutional rule for conflicts.
