Concept

In a figure-matrix series, each cell has a central dot with two line segments radiating from it — one line ends in an arrowhead and the other ends in a solid marker shape (a diamond or a square). Reading across the sequence, the whole two-line figure rotates by a fixed angle at every step, while the angle between the two lines and the alternating marker shape stay fixed.

Application

  1. Follow the arrow-tipped line across the known cells: it points up in the 1st cell, up-right in the 2nd cell, and right in the 3rd cell — a 45° clockwise turn each time. Continuing the same turn, the arrow in the missing 4th cell must point down-right (south-east).

  2. Follow the marker-tipped line across the same cells: up-right with a diamond in the 1st cell, right with a square in the 2nd cell, down-right with a diamond in the 3rd cell — also a 45° clockwise turn each time, with the marker alternating diamond, square, diamond. Continuing this, the marker in the missing 4th cell must be a square pointing straight down (south).

  3. So the missing figure needs, from the same central dot: an arrow pointing south-east, and a separate straight line ending in a square pointing due south.

The identical rule — 45° clockwise rotation of both lines with the marker alternating diamond and square — continues unbroken into the second row: arrow south with a diamond south-west, then arrow south-west with a square west, then arrow west with a diamond north-west, then arrow north-west with a square north.
