India's climate and energy policy set a national target of 175 GW of installed renewable-electricity capacity to be reached by the year 2022. This overall figure is shared among four renewable sources, each carrying its own capacity target.

The 175 GW target for 2022 is apportioned among the renewable sources as follows:

• Solar power: 100 GW

• Wind power: 60 GW

• Biomass power: 10 GW

• Small hydro power: 5 GW

The share set aside for biomass is 10 GW, so the target for producing power from biomass by 2022 is 10 GW.

This biomass target was in fact achieved: India's installed biomass-based power capacity crossed about 10 GW by 2021, confirming the figure. Of the four values offered, only 10 GW corresponds to the biomass allocation of the 2022 renewable-energy plan.
