Where was the area of 'Dahal' located in ancient times?

In ancient times, the region known as 'Dahal' (Dahala-mandala) lay in the area around present-day Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. It was the heartland of the Chedi country, and the Kalachuris of Tripuri — who ruled here between roughly the 7th and 13th centuries — were also called the Kalachuris of Dahala. Their capital, Tripuri (modern Tewar), lies near Jabalpur. Hence the area of Dahal corresponds to the Jabalpur region.
