Wind power was the leading on-grid non-conventional source of installed capacity in Madhya Pradesh on 31 March 2018. The state's cumulative wind capacity stood at about 2,520 MW, developed over many years across its windy districts such as Dewas, Ratlam, Mandsaur and Shajapur. Solar power, although expanding quickly, was still behind wind at that point — the flagship 750 MW Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Park only began generation in mid-2018 and was fully commissioned later, in 2020. Small hydro (about a hundred megawatts) and biomass (a few tens of megawatts) were far smaller. Hence wind power led the state's non-conventional installed capacity as on 31 March 2018.
