Correct answer: B
Eligibility criteria (a candidate must satisfy all three):
Minimum 85% marks in the final-year examination.
At least 90% marks in the University's selection test.
Age between 21 and 25 years as on 01.01.2020.
Special relaxations:
Fails (i) but has won at least one major Debate / Sports / Cultural prize -> refer the case to the Director.
Fails (ii) and is from the reserved category -> a 2-year age relaxation is allowed.
Checking Deepinder Bhalla:
Final-year marks = 79% -> below the required 85% (fails (i))
Selection-test marks = 92% -> at least 90% (meets (ii))
Born 17 Dec 1997 -> age on 01.01.2020 = 22 years, within 21-25 (meets (iii))
Won 3 inter-university debate competitions -> a major Debate prize (satisfied)
She satisfies (ii) and (iii) and falls short only on (i). The reserved-category age relaxation does not apply, because she clears (ii) and no reserved-category status is given. However, having won a major Debate award, she fits the first special relaxation, so her case must be referred to the Director.
