In the Entity-Relationship (E-R) model, a subordinate entity depends on a dominant entity for its existence. This implies that the subordinate entity cannot exist independently without the dominant entity being present in the database. Consequently, if the dominant entity is deleted, the subordinate entity must also be removed to maintain referential integrity.
