Concept

An Odd One Out (classification) question tests whether you can spot the single item that belongs to a different category from the rest, once you identify the trait shared by the majority of the items.

Application

Tulip, Rose, and Daisy are each proper names of a species of flower. Bud, however, is not a flower species -- it is the closed, undeveloped stage of a flower, or more generally a growth point on a plant, and this stage exists in every flowering plant, including tulip and rose.

Contrast with the other options:

• Tulip -- a specific flower species, so it fits the majority category.

• Rose -- a specific flower species, so it fits the majority category.

• Daisy -- a specific flower species, so it fits the majority category.
